Yukon Advanced Optics’ engineers kept versatility
and comfort in mind when creating the Viking series of night vision
binoculars. Each of the Viking series of night vision binoculars
are similar yet different.
The Viking LT 2x24 night vision binocular has
a magnification of 2x and an objective lens of 24mm. The unit’s
eye relief of 12 mm allows for comfortable viewing while the 400
m range of detection makes this unit perfect for long distance viewing.
The Viking LT 2x24 provides clear viewing in total
darkness by utilizing a single built-in IR illuminator with a range
of 150 m. Throw the ergonomically-designed, rubberized body around
your neck for a long expedition; the lightweight (21 oz.), compact
(6.9 x 4.8 x 2.8 in.) unit is surprisingly comfortable, making your
viewing experience that much more enjoyable. Like all Viking models,
the LT utilizes Yukon’s newly designed Eclipse lens cap system,
which removes lens cap hassles, dual eye diopter adjustment with
central focusing, and a wide field of view (30 degrees).
Fully multicoated glass optics provide a high degree
of light transmission, enhanced by the high-grade, Yukon Quality
Certified Gen 1 image intensifier tubes, which are powered by one
3V CR123A battery.
Generation 1 image intensifier tubes work by using a photocathode
to transform the gathered light into electrons, which then pass
through the image tube and bombard a Phosphor screen to produce
the green illumination of an image. The Viking image intensifier
tubes provide high-quality viewing in nighttime conditions; however
the unit can be used during the day.
Al image intensifier tubes are extremely light
sensitive and can be destroyed by bright lights; however the Viking
LT 2x24 remedies this problem by including Yukon’s exclusive Eclipse
lens cap system. These lens caps include a pinhole to protect the
unit from bright light, but still allow the user the option of daytime
use.
Yukon’s exclusive Eclipse lens cap system not only
protects the unit from bright light, it also saves users from many
irritations. Everyone knows the hassles associated with binoculars’
lens caps - they get lost or tangled, but without them the lenses
become dusty or scratched up. The Eclipse lens cap system features
flip-top lens covers that can be flipped up to fit against the binoculars’
body and rotated to ensure that they are out of the viewing field.
Also, the covers can be taken off all together.
In addition to the Eclipse lens cap system, the
water resistant Viking utilizes a soft, one-piece eyecup to prevent
external light distortion and light leakage from the device, allowing
the user to remain hidden in the night.
The Viking makes use of a built-in PULSE infrared
illuminator for added image clarity in total darkness. The PULSE
system utilizes quick infrared energy bursts that pierce the darkness
further to increase distance, visibility and image quality. The
PULSE IR System provides the highest level of infrared illumination
without significant battery drainage. The same “pulsing” frequency
that is invisible to human eyes infiltrates longer distances due
to the Infrared Illuminator’s quick energy bursts.
The Viking LT’s 2x24 magnification is perfect for
general observation, outdoor activities including hunting, boating,
hiking/camping, cave exploration, and commercial and sport fishing.
Professional uses include search and rescue, surveillance and law
enforcement.
